| How To Write A Personal Statement For Graduate School |
|
|
I guess you all think that anyone who applies for a post-graduate program would easily write a personal statement for graduate school. Well, you are all wrong. You have no idea how many people seek professional help when it comes to writing a personal statement for graduate school.
From my point of view, if someone has studied for so long, then he should know how to write a coherent essay by the time he finished undergraduate education. Though, don't get me wrong, I am happy that so many people need professional help writing and come to me as I am a professional editor. I do make quite a lot of money of writing the academic aspirations of people who are wealthy, but illiterate.
Of course, I don't write it all by myself, that would not be ethical, though I sometimes write almost all of it. Many people call me up and explain me that they need some help with writing their personal statement for graduate school.
When they give me to see what they have already written, most of the times it is simply no good, even the language isn't really English. I am amazed at what people think will pass.
However, there is one thing which worries me more, this is the thought that these people graduate High school with no idea how to write an original and intelligent essay.
There are times when I start reading the first few sentences of someone’s personal statement for graduate school and I cannot stop thinking that this person couldn't have read what he believes is the right statement. These people haven't even considered asking a friend of theirs to read it and tell them his opinion about it.
Not to mention that there are many spelling mistakes in the writings. When I established my business I had a flat rate for editing a personal statement for graduate school.
I figured as they were all intelligent grown-ups, I would only have to do some routine proofing of each statement and probably give them feedback how they could make it a bit better. Now I realize I was being naive. I started making much money from this business but it had a price - I got to know the full depths of illiteracy and ignorance.
Some people have given me such awful personals statements for graduate school, that I had no other choice but telling them that their work needed a major-rewrite. And imagine what they were to answer me - that this is not acceptable as all they wanted was a light proofing and no major changes to their badly-written personal statements for graduate school.
